LMSA rules are governed by the NSA canadal rules except for the following:
1. Teams must have a minimum of three (3) females to start or continue a game. No more than seven (7) males may be on the field at any given time.
2. Home team supplies bases and a good game ball. The game ball must have a traditional leather cover. No rubber balls (i.e. Spalding Tournament Plus) are allowed to be used. The home team will be decided by a coin toss before the game.
3. Visiting team must supply one base for use as a safe base at first base, if the home team does not have a safe base available.
4. Ten run rule will apply per inning. No mercy rule after 5 innings unless a team cannot mathematically score enough runs to win (i.e. more than 10 runs down with only one bat left, or more than 20 runs behind with two bats left). Note - if both teams agree, the remaining innings can be played out.
5. All games will start at 7:00pm. A 15 minute grace period will be granted to allow a team to field a team when needed.
6. In case of foul weather, it is the responsibility of the team captains to contact each other to decide whether or not to cancel their game. If the city decides to close down their diamonds due to soft playing surfaces, teams are required to cancel their games regardless of the weather.
7. In the event a team does not show up for their game, it is the responsibility of the team that did show up to email the executive through lethmixedslowpitch.com. This must be done the same night so that the league executive can carry out the appropriate disciplinary action against the team that was a no-show.
8. If a team is unable to field a team for a scheduled game, that team must notify the opposing team before 5:00pm. If that team should not give notice before 5:00pm, forfeiture of the $25 performance bond will result, and that team will be suspended from play until the performance bond is replaced
9. Teams will umpire their own games during the scheduled season.
10. Home plat mat dimensions are 2' x 3'. Any legally pitched ball (6' - 12' arc) which lands on the mat will be called a strike. A ball that touches ant part of home plate will be called a ball.
11. Each team is required to maintain a $25 performance bond. Each time a team does not show up for a game, or does not give notice by 5:00pm, that team shall forfeit $25. Once a team forfeits any part of its performance bond, they will not be able to participate in any further league games until the bond is restored to the $25 level. Any team that does not show up for three (3) of their games during a season may be suspended upon the discretion of the league executive.
12. WARNING: The conveyance of alcohol onto city property for purposes of consumption is strictly prohibited. Teams that do bring alcohol to the city diamonds do so at their own risk, and can be prosecuted if caught by the authorities.
13. HAVE FUN! Keep in mind that this is a non-competitive league. Those teams wanting to play more serious ball should inquire about joining the competitive division of our league.
14. Run-by Rule: Players running to home base should keep a safe distance between themselves and the back catcher. The player does not need to touch the mat, only behind it
15. Teams may play with a minimum of eight (8) players, however the team must forfeit an out each time one of the vacant spots occurs in the batting order. You must still have three (3) female players to start. The teams can designate which of the vacant batting order positions will be the outs.
16. Pitchers must pitch from the designated 50' as per NSA rules, and more importantly, their own safety.
17. A team may use twelve (12) batters as long as their is four (4) female players batting. Any 10 of these 12 players can substitute in and out of the game as many times as they want, as long as they retain their same spot in the batting order. There is no limitation on how many male players bat in a row.
18. Two bases at 1st. One adjacent to foul line in "fair" territory, one adjacent to foul line in "foul" territory. If there is any possibility of a play at first base the runner must use the bag located in foul territory or they will be automatically "out". A fielder must always use the bag in fair territory.
19. After hitting the ball a baserunner can not be thrown out at first base from a ball hit to the outfield.
20. Any time a male batter is walked without a strike against him, and is followed by a female in the batting order, he is automatically given second base. The female then has the option of batting or taking 1st on a walk.
21. Regular NSA rules will apply for substitutions.
